restlessly a man could not sleep —the woman’s voice
in her voice there was breath in her breath sweet scent of a wild rose in the rose pollen of the woman’s soul
from her soul blossoms whispered deep tones of blossoming in that sound a poem in that poem magic spell in that spell a prayer in her artful prayer her longing river of woman’s longing
the man felt her breathing against his ear (there in the solitary night) the man felt her breathing on his cheek (there in the starry night’s loneliness) the man felt her lips upon his lips intimate eternal
time dissolved timelessness space contracted into murmuring respiration into the rhythm-soft of her absent-presence
no longer continents no longer islands no longer the wide and parting sea slender a blue thread as if of silk tender green circle a green ring the like of spring
the woman’s voice caressed the man restlessly caressed him the man…
could not sleep.
