The old man;
Lonely and melancholy
Gazed down from his balcony
At the tumbling scraps of paper
stony_river_400On the desolate streets,
Lost in his thoughts
And unfulfilled
Youthful desires.

As the rain fell
From the black sky
Like mournful tears;
Fat drops falling on the
Road like a dance.

While strains of
Crackling old
Blues records played
From the inside as
He smoked his
Cigarette.

Every song and
Every cigarette
Measured his
Age,and the
Passing of
The years.

Yet now,
Old and bent;
No one could take
Away his memories
And experiences,
For these were his last
Remaining treasures;
And the tumbling scraps
Of paper on the street,
And the bitter cold
As the old man gazed
Wistfully down at the
Street from his balcony.
