Zombie Nation

All zombies,
The living dead;
Sacks of flesh and bones
Walking, rickety walking
By trains and shops
Across the harbour
Bridge.

zombie01_400Hollow sockets,
Empty sockets,
An army of zombies
Brushing their zombie teeth
Brushing their zombie hair
In their cold zombie city.

Glass spires, steel
Crumbling towers,
A cardboard box
Flaps in the wind against
The bum's sleeping head;
Chewed up and spat out
By the zombie city
While the zombies
With their hollow eyes and
Hollow sockets stare at
Their flickering televisions
Crammed like sardines
In their brick coffins
Waiting for the
Morning
Sun.

Shooting up,
Cutting up,
Pickling and
Soaking their
Zombie bodies
In alcohol wrapped
In tendrils of cigarette
Smoke.

Zombies,
All dead, all dead,
The walking dead;
Do they eat brains?
Do they want to eat
My brain? Will they
Walk like Frankenstein
And cry "Brains, sweet
Brains?"

The seas are boiling,
The fish wrapped in plastic debris,
Warming algae and human
Shit, wrecked embryos,
Blood and jism all floating
Like the white mucous
Of a fried egg sizzling
On a pan.

Soon the seas
Will also become
Zombified, like
The zombie cities
And the zombie
Nations with their
Smokestacks, factories,
Suits, briefcases, smiling
Real estate agents,
Crescents and crosses.

Do they know
They're dead,
The zombies?
All crammed in
Their brick zombie homes,
Sacks of flesh and bones
Walking, rickety walking
By trains and shops
Across the harbour
Bridge, with their hollowed
Souls like shucked oyster
Shells, the succulent  juicy
Flesh of their souls scooped
Out from their bodies consumed long ago,
Zombie cities, in zombie nations
On a zombie planet.
